The Birdie Floor lamp is a hymn to balance and simplicity. The elongated tilting arm is counterbalanced at one end by a disc of solid brass, and at the other, is completed by the jaunty abstract Birdie shade. Inspired by the enduring appeal of the simple lines of classic modernism.
Martin was persuaded to sit in the family Alvar Aalto Paimio Armchair 41 for this shot, a design classic which has been his favourite since childhood and an important influence on his work. Designed in 1932 this masterpiece of curving modernism is a wonderful complement to the rigorous combination of line and circle which define the Birdie.
The Birdie Floor Lamp combines elegance, movement and simple lines to create a classic graphic shape. The Birdie shade, which houses the LED spotlight, can be swivelled and tilted to direct the light source, and the tilting counterbalanced arm allows the shade to be positioned at the desired height.
Custom colours and finishes are available for the Birdie Floor lamp.
Our standard options include black arms and base, with the shade and detail elements in either satin brass, antique brass or bronze. Custom combinations also available.
