Martin Huxford's new limited edition Acrobat Lamp celebrates movement, sculpture and joy.

The piece captures the fluent energy and emotion of sculpting with plaster. Acrobat references the classic Cubism of Braque and Picasso, where movement is captured as a still form, expressing transition in time as a single, fixed sculpture.

Martin's sculpture for this lamp embodies his dynamic creative process. Working in plaster, the final shape emerges from his exploration of geometric movement, with a breaking down and a gradual assembly before the final form emerges.

Acrobat expresses a feeling of joyful energy with a series of swirling geometric accents and fluid movement. Sculpting in plaster, Martin has pushed the transformative potential of this very traditional material to create a contemporary animated design, full of energy.

"Sculpting with plaster is a thrillingly fluid process, both immediate and tactile. This magically transforming material moves from liquid to solid form, directly expressing my imagination."
Martin Huxford
